My parents mostly care about the sex part, but it was barely even part of the game. All that i can remember is one scene where you had to examine a female dead body, you could see her bare chest and a patch of hair "down there" but it was not that bad and did not last long.
There is one cut scene where sex is implied but all you see is a couple walk into an apartment. There is swearing, but mostly from your partner when you crash your car. Drugs are not really apart of this game, you have to investigate a room that has drugs scattered around.
Violence is mostly shooting or investigating a murder scene. Cole Phelps, the main character, is a good role model. He mostly always chooses the right thing and is a good cop. At first, your cases are very simple, such as investigating a suspected murder or even just a robbery or car accident.
But once you get to the Homicide department, things get very adult. The opening cutscenes to Homicide usually depict a man walking up to someone and brutally beating them with a metal object.
The victims are all women, as the game also focuses on domestic violence. When investigating the crime scene, the bodies are stripped naked, sometimes with obscenities written on them. Breasts are clear and pubic hair can be seen. The wounds of the victim are also graphically depicted, with blood flowing and obvious slashes and skull exposed, also with bloody strangulation marks on the neck. When speaking to the coroner about the possible cause of death, he will go into disturbing description of the wounds.
In one case, the victim's body was thought to have been raped. The coroner says that "Blood and torn tissue was found in the anus, but no traces of semen. The main character can be thought as a positive role model, as he is a cop who believes in justice. If you think that your child is mature enough to handle it, I definitely recommend the game, but if you don't think they are, keep this game away from them. Unique gameplay and realistic character development make for a thrilling experience. Although, I recommend giving it some thought before buying it for your teenager. There's a mission in which you investigate the murder of a family of four where the house was burned down with them inside.
After entering the charred remains of their house you are led to what is left of the living room, where, the entire family kids included are sitting with their skin melted off. Also one of the first cases involves busting a child molester! And a second case has you interrogate a homeless man who openly brags to you about the sheer number of woman he's raped and killed.
As far as gore? The original review describes it pretty well. As far as educational value LA Noir is top notch. Rockstar Games completely recreated 's downtown LA using old maps and photos. I could almost see the game being used by a museum to let visitors walk the streets of 's LA and find famous buildings and such.
